At a drive of one hour is KK’s nearest river rafting destination- the Kiulu River. While if someone is looking out to enhancing the scale of thrill then rafting at Padas River is much more adventurous. Padas River is at a drive of nearly 3 hours from KK. Many travel operators across KK offer one-day trip to these places. Sea Kayaking is available at Tanjung Aru Beach which is again a one-day trip from KK. At this coast, vacationers can also relish swimming and snorkeling.
River Cruising in KK
Driving for about an hour and half from KK city, travelers desirous of river cruising can reach Klias Wetland Mangrove Forest Reserve. At Klias River flowing through it, they can get a chance of trying the river cruise. While on the way, some interesting creatures such as fireflies and proboscis monkeys can be spotted too.
Other places to venture into river cruise are Garama and Weston at a little further distance from Klias.
Northern Borneo Railway
For all the fans of the bygone era, a ride in this old steam train which is still functional in Sabah and Borneo is must in order to make their vacation to KK complete in all forms. It starts from Kota Kinabalu and goes up to Papar passing through the terrain of Tanjung Aru.
