Filipino Smuggler Nabbed

Six marine police have caught 20-year-old male Filipino national with a car due to distributing illegal cigarettes and fireworks along Sabah’s west coast when they raided a house in northern Kota Belud district and seized more than RM1.3 million worth of the smuggled goods. According to Sabah Marine Police Chief Assistant Comm Mohamad Madun, he said that they have caught him on Wednesday at Kampung Pirasan with some 22,790 cartons of various types of cigarettes.

They also found 40 boxes of firecrackers during the raid. He also stated that all this things had been smuggled in through the southern Philippines island of Mangsi near Pulau Banggi in Kudat district. The smuggler brought all the stuffs to the house before it will be distributed to Kota Marudu, Kudat, Ranau and other areas. This also had been reported as the largest seizure by Sabah Marine Police this year.
