SMK Tebobon tops in English Essay Contest

Form five student of SMK Tebobon named Zainularifin Zainuddin won the first place with his entry titled ‘ A Day in the Shoes of a Fighter Pilot’ at English Essay Writing Competition 2016 organized by the Rotary Club of Likas Bay (RLCB). He received RM500 cash and a certificate.

Second place went to Jonathan Heng, a Form Six student of SM All Saints, who won RM300 cash and a certificate (“A Day in the Shoes of a Professional Gamer”), while Nurhannah Rahim, also a Form Six student of SM All Saints, took the third spot and collected RM200 cash and a certificate (“A Day in the Shoes of an Actress”).

Seven consolation prize-winners, who was each given RM100 cash and a certificate, comprised Chin Tze Chi (SM Kian Kok – “A Day in the Shoes of an Astronaut”), Nathan Loo (SM Kian Kok – “A Day in the Shoes of a Designer”), Daffodil Ho (SM Kian Kok – “A Day in the Shoes of a Photographer”), Christy Lo (SM Kian Kok – “A Day in the Shoes of an Interior Designer”), Kong Jia Xi (SM Kian Kok – “A Day in the Shoes of an Author”), Wong Haoen (SM All Saints – “A Day in the Shoes of a Backpacker”) and Daphne Adrian (SMK St Francis Convent – “A Day in the Shoes of a Biomedical Scientist”).

The top ten winner were required to attend a three-day leadership camp called RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) Kinabalu 2016 Leadership Camp at the Montfort Youth Leadership Centre in Kinarut, Papar, Sabah. The objective was to help to improve the level of proficiency in English among students and also at the same time to identify future leaders of tomorrow.
